I am very glad I finished the activities. The whole process served as motivation for me to try all these new up and coming applications. I am also very proud of my staff that did complete this exercise, especially those who were a little intimidated initially.
Thanks Nick, Jacque, Dan for monitoring all the blogs, for the technical support, and keeping us all in check...Good Job!

Craigslist
I have visited this site before. Great resource for just about everything from selling your stuff to finding an apt to sublet.

Google Docs: The End of Microsoft Office?
First, I edited the first line of my doc (changed Nicholas to Nick) and it didn't save it so I thought. It did save it in the actual doc though...(?)
We have been using Google Docs for our schedules and it's very practical. For me it is convenient because I can edit the page schedule from my desk.

What's a Wiki?
I always wondered where the catchy word "wiki" came from?? Now I know!
I explored all the suggested wiki sites and thought it would be a great idea to have one for the pages or staff to promote group learning. Since we change things so often around here it is the ideal way to update all procedures and send out gentle reminders, and edit from anywhere. We could also apply wikis to "how to" procedures. Since they are searchable it makes it easier to find the instructions to something...

Find New Feeds
I started my search with Syndic8.com and didnt find it very user friendly regarding the graphic and webpage set up. I liked Technorati better as a tool. I also searched for feeds by googling RSS Feeds Directory....too much to sort through.
I subscribed to a health feed, specifically "detox diets".

Discovering feeds on our catalog
I think the RSS feeds concept is a good one. Its as if you are bookmarking your favorite sites but instead of you accessing them, they send you the info. Our technologically savvy patrons will benefit from this service and those that are not will learn a new way of being reminded to attend and register for programs, view and reserve new titles,or simply receive important info on subjects they are interested in. I subscribed to the Adult Reference New Fiction Feed.
